Sunday deal roundup: $79 Fitbit Inspire 2, $400 Google Pixel 4XL, $11 AirPods charging station and more - CNET

sacelebat.blogspot.com

It's Sunday, and that can mean only one thing: deals! Wait, that's every day. But these deals are an unusual lot; see if you can figure out what four of the five have in common. (The answer appears at the bottom. Hint: Only regular Cheapskate readers will be able to solve the riddle.)

Google

Actually, you're saving way more than $180 (which is the current price at Amazon), because the now-discontinued Pixel 4XL originally sold for $900. Amazing cameras couldn't justify that price tag, according to CNET's Lynn La in her Pixel 4XL review, but this price tag definitely changes the equation.

Seller Unlocked Direct is also offering this with one month of Google Fi service, though of course you're not obligated to use it. (It's not clear which plan you're getting.) Because the phone is unlocked, it should work with just about any carrier.

Fitbit

The Fitbit Inspire 2 was already a compelling fitness band, offering stylish looks and a nice mix of features for a very reasonable $100. Amazon's $21 discount makes it even more compelling, but the bigger news is a new feature: The Inspire 2 now supports Tile tracking.

That means you can use the wearable to find your phone, even if it's set to silent. As a longtime fan of Tile's keychain trackers, I can tell you how profoundly useful this can be. There's no additional charge to use the feature; you just need to set up a Tile account.

Wireless Future Charger

Amazon seller: FutureCharger

Price: $10.55 with on-page 8%-off coupon and promo code OMT5VQNQ, which should work with any of the four available colors

If your AirPods support wireless charging, you've probably discovered that you have to position the case just so on a Qi charging pad, otherwise you might not get a proper, er, connection.

This little charging dock solves that problem, giving you can't-miss spot to place the case. It works with both AirPods with Wireless Charging and AirPods Pro. And it employs USB-C for connecting to whatever powered Type-A USB port you can make available.

This is an all-time low for the OpenMove, which originally sold for $100 -- and actually one of the best deals on record for any AfterShokz headphone.

These things are hugely popular with runners and bikers, as they allow you to comfortably listen to music, podcasts and the like without blocking ambient noise. That means you're less likely to miss hearing, say, an oncoming truck, which a noise-canceling earbud might block out.

I'm a fan, and my super-active brother-in-law Bill will talk your ear off about AfterShokz if you let him. "Literally life-changing," he tells me often.

Note that at this writing, all four colors are on sale at this price, but are showing "out of stock" for a few days. Thankfully, you can still get your order in.

Logitech

Update: Sorry, this one is now out of stock.

Gaming joysticks were incredibly hard to come by last year, in part due to the pandemic and in part due to joystick-friendly new releases like Microsoft Flight Simulator and Star Wars Squadrons. So it's news not only that B&H has this popular model in stock, but also that it's on sale.

The G Extreme is an excellent basic joystick, offering 12 programmable buttons, an 8-way hat switch and a twisting stick for rudder controls. The base is weighted, too, something you wouldn't expect at this price point.

So, what did these deals have in common? All five products were brand new to this space: I've never before written about the Inspire 2, Logitech joystick, AirPods charger or AfterShokz OpenMove. (I've written about other AfterShokz models, just not that one.)

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, cheeps!
